About Porcaro Dynamics.
Porcaro Dynamics is a solo engineering and repair shop, run by me, Peter Porcaro. I repair laser systems for small shops around Wichita and do the laser safety work that usually never gets done: hazard evaluations, NHZ calculations, written procedures, and operator training.
My background is instrumentation and R&D engineering: optics, analog electronics, firmware, and the mechanical design around them. I have also built an industrial laser safety program from scratch at an aerospace manufacturer, which is where the safety side of this comes from.
That background is the reason every visit gets measured and written down. A technician can tell you the machine is fixed. I can show you the power it made before and after, what the coolant measured, and what is going to need attention next.

How I Work
Diagnosis before parts. A machine that will not fire can be the power supply, the tube, the interlock chain, the controller, or a wire somebody knocked loose last month. Telling those apart takes measurements and about an hour. Guessing at them takes a few hundred dollars of parts you did not need, so I measure first and tell you what I found before anything gets ordered.
Repair and safety on the same visit, where it makes sense. If the machine is already open and aligned, that is the cheapest time to test the interlocks, look at the labels, and find out whether anyone has explained to the operators what the eyewear is actually for.
You keep the paperwork. A written report after every visit with the measurements, findings and parts in it. After a few visits that turns into a record of how the machine is aging, which is how you find out a tube is on its way out before it quits in the middle of a job.
What I'm Not
I am a one-person shop, and new at running it as a business. I would rather be plain about that than dress it up. I am not an authorized dealer or service provider for any laser manufacturer.
I also will not take work I cannot do properly. I do not repair fiber laser sources internally or rebuild RF CO2 tubes (yet!). If your problem is outside what I do, I will say so on the first call instead of after the drive out.
